A day late, but what's an extra day after 3 years?

August 4, 2010 –

Sorry, I’ve fallen a little behind on the blog. I know that you have all been waiting on pins and needles for the next installment, and I have tortured you by making you wait. That’s just the kind of person I am.

Anyway, with no semi blocking our path, we left Dad and Deb’s house Wednesday morning. Because we were nearly a day behind schedule, we left fairly early so the kids (and Becky) all fell asleep on the drive. It was actually kind of nice driving without the fevered roar of kids fighting in the back seat. I had time to listen to my audio book – thanks, Brian.

We made it to our friends Seth and Kara’s house near Seattle in the afternoon, and we spent the evening just visiting with them. Their three kids ages 7,6 and 4 kept our kids entertained in their awesome play room while the grownups (I use the term loosely) caught up on each others lives for the past few years,

I originally met Seth when we were missionary companions in Morge, Switzerland about 17 years ago. (That’s also where I became friends with the Vigliotti family who are familiar to you if you read my last blog. If not, it’s not too late. Just change the 3 in this web address to a 2 and you can read all about it) Then Seth was my college roommate for a year, and he is one of the people who convinced me return to BYU after I swore I would never go back (long story, but I’m glad I ate my words because that’s where Becky and met – now’s the time for everyone to sigh and say, “Isn’t that sweet?”)

It was really great visiting with Seth and Kara. We’ve kept in contact with an occasional phone call and Christmas letters over the years, but we hadn’t seen Seth in about three years and Kara for about six. We stayed up late talking which is why I’ve neglected the blog the past couple of days. I’ll try to catch up tomorrow, but I’d better catch some sleep tonight.
